Curvissa - Plus North Spotlight Blog

Next up on our Plus North spotlight blog is Curvissa

Curvissa stocks size 14-32 exclusive brands. Styles include occasionwear, casual wear, jeans, jumpers, coats, lingerie, swimwear, footwear and accessories.

As part of the spotlight blog we were each sent this lush pinafore dress. In typical Toni style, I picked black (it also comes in check)!

As usual with Curvissa I had to massively size up. I ended up ordering a size 26 and it only just fit.

I wore the pinafore with a black long sleeve top and black leggings. I would also wear this with a white long sleeve top.

Check out the other girls posts.

Yours Clothing - Plus North Spotlight blog

With Plus North almost upon us myself, Becky and the rest of the Plus North team will be highlighting our Premier Sponsors on your blogs to give you a bit of an idea of what the day will have in store for you.

First up we have the amazing Your Clothing.

I have been a long time buyer from Yours Clothing and over the past few years have been excited to see that their range (a very extensive one!) has gone from strength to strength. Your Clothing seem to cover every age and every style with out compromising on price or quality.

As part of the spotlight blog we were asked if we would be interested in taking part in a 'Take 5 Plus North'. After looking through the website me and Becky decided that this dress would be ideal for the whole team!

So here I am wearing it! I wore it with my trusted denim jacket, tights and brogues and received compliments on it all day!

I can see this dress been an all season dress.. It would look fab with a long sleeved black tee, an oversized cardi and some knee highs....

Dont forget to see how the other ladies wore there dress....

OOTD

Seems like ages since I last posted an outfit of the day!

On Wednesday myself and Becky toddled over the Manchester to meet Rosie for a meeting with Simply Be and Label PR for Plus North.

It was stoooopidly hot and I didn't really dress for the occasion!

I  had decided that I wanted to wear an ASOS Curve dress that seems to have been sat in my wardrobe for ages.

I loved it as soon as I saw it on the site but waited for it to go in the sale before I bought it!

Excuse the hotel mirror photo. It was hot and sweaty and I didn't have the patient to pose for photos.

My only issue with ASOS Curve dresses is that they are a tad too long for me.. I like them to sit just above my knee.

PS. Thank you sooooo much to everyone who nominated Plus North and me and Becky for Best Event and Best Achievement at the Plus Size Awards.... If you can spare two minutes to vote for us to win we would realllllly love you for ever!!!

Day 2 #30 Day challenge

Day 2
Something that I am good at….
I’m generally not good at anything…. I get a lot of ideas of things I want to do and try, but if I can’t do it after the first attempt I give in.
The only thing I think I am good at is organising. I can’t organise myself. But work events, social things, my work desk, tasks at work etc etc, I can do with my eyes shut. In ‘life’ I have to have lists for everything otherwise I wouldn’t get anything done. EVER!
In my mind there is only two things that I am even half good at. My blog and Plus North.
Although my blog isn’t the biggest or best around, it’s something that I have stuck with and it turns two in August. I have never stuck with anything for 2 years.
And Plus North.  I get enormous satisfaction in the joy that it brings people and the knowing that without any events training me and Becky has an event that is better than some professionally organised events.
At times I still find it difficult to believe that me and Becky managed to pull off such a successful event and have been able to do it again for this year. The support we have received from brands, bloggers and members of the public has been overwhelming. And the fact that you lovely lot have nominated us for not one, but TWO (!!!!!) awards at the Plus Size Awards in November is beyond either of our expectations.
And we will love you all even more if you vote for us!

We are nominated in Best Event and Best Achievement…..
One thing I am not good at is getting to the point……………………….. LOL!
Check out the other ladies…..

When Simply Be kindly offered to let me a few items from the last range the first item on my list was this jacket, and as we already had this list of further themes it made sense to wait!

Its not something I would normally wear, but it seems to go with everything!

I actually cheated when taking the photos..... I needed to take pics for another challenge so killed two birds with one stone et voile la...

This jacket works really with everything!

OOTD - A new arrival

Hello lovelies..... hope you are all well?

How amazing was the weather over the bank holiday weekend?

I have been a bad blogger..... I very kindly got sent a beautiful dress By Live Unlimited at the beginning of May and I am only just reviewing it....

I honestly have no idea why I have only just worn it as I love it. I first saw this tunic on Becky and started lusting after it, but with a £65 price tag, there was no way I could afford it! The tunic is still available from Evans and currently has 10% off.

This is what I call my summer gothic look. It was warm and sunny but I still wanted to wear black....

I actually wore it with a clinched waist belt, but looking at the photos I prefer it with out.

The cut of print it very pretty, but extremely delicate. After having a 2 year old clinging on me all day I had to check that all the flowers where still intact... and that brings me to my title...

We have a new arrival to the family.. My sister gave birth to my second nephew on Monday.... Zachary Andrew. Weighing 7lbs 12 and nearly 3 weeks early he is beyond perfect.

I will hopefully be able to show you some pictures soon!

#FFF - Oversized

Okay, okay, I know I am a bit late....I promise I have a good excuse.....my mother doesn't have the internet and I spent the weekend there!!!

The theme for this weekends post is oversized. At first thought I thought I would breeze this one. I one oversized clothing, especially tops. I had also been eyeing up this beaut from ASOS Curve.

I love the of shoulder element and presumed that If i sized up it would be oversized and fall off my shoulder even more!

I ordered a size 24 presuming I would get the look I wanted.... and to be honest I was a bit disappointed. Yes It over sized, but it doesn't fall off my should as much as I would like it too. As it a bargain at £12 I will more than likely order the 26, maybe even the 28 if it comes in that size!

What do you think? Would you size up?

Don't forget the visit Mhairi, Becky's and Rosie's blogs to see how they styled 'oversize'......

Now to prepare for the next theme............. I may need help!!!!

Slink Magazine Issue 5 - The Relationships Issue

When you hear the phrase 'The Relationship Issue' you immediately think of love and romance and all the other soppy stuff that most magazine issue round this time of year.

However, in the latest issue of Slink Magazine, they have taken the notion of relationships and applied it to many subjects, with My Food, My Body, My Accessories, My Child and My family all up discussion.

The My Body article was written by the wonderfully talented Becky of  www.theramblingsofmrsbebe.blogspot.com, who bares all about her past body issues and her new found love of blogging within the plus size community! She is amazing!

Issue 5 of Slink Magazine has something for everyone. As well as the aforementioned articles on relationships, this issue has an in-depth interview with the only plus size winner of ANTM and ambassador for the Nation Easting Disorder Association, Whitney Thompson.

An article from the amazing Kellie Brown of www.fatshioninsider.com.  Kellie is Slinks newest columnist and will be keeping an eye on Plus Size fashion and brands State side. Starting with LA based Tbags of Los Angeles.

Slink also has the pick of this Spring key fashion trends from metallic and sequins, florals, pastel shades, prints, sporty chic and tribal prints, as well as accessories.

Slink then offers up hair tips from Lee Stafford, recommended beauty products, a tried and tested facial, fake tan, hair treatment and boot camp, a travel guide to Cambridge and Budapest, recipes, restaurant reviews, and even a review on the brand new Ford Focus 2.0 CDTI Titanium.

This is also the first time that you can get an actual copy of Slink,  (£3.95 plus P&P shipping available worldwide), as well as in digital format and PDF format (£1)!

I really enjoyed this issue of Slink Magazine!

The only downside is that we have to wait another three months for the next issue!
